In exasperation, and almost as a final throw of the dice, Gerald Durrell terminated the contract that he had had with Ken Smith, and took over as the zoo’s Director. He advertised for a professional company administrator and troubleshooter, who it was hoped could sort out the mess that Jersey Zoological Park Ltd had now found itself in.
